Visconti Imaging & Vein Institute offers comprehensive treatment of varicose veins. All of the

Arteries take blood from the heart and deliver it to all of our organs and tissues; veins bring
the de-oxygenated blood back to the heart. The muscles in our legs pump the veins to bring the
blood up, against gravity, to the heart. Our veins have one-way valves to prevent the blood
from going back down when our leg muscles aren't pumping. The pressure valves open to allow
upward movement of blood flow and then they close to prevent backward flow. If these valves
become faulty and do not close properly, the blood flows in the wrong direction and the vein distends
to allow for the pooling of blood (similar to filling a balloon with water). Many symptoms can
be attributed to varicose veins, including pain, a feeling of heaviness, restless legs, and bulging

Spider veins are blue-green veins that are very close to the skin. Spider
veins are often treated for cosmetic purposes, but they can cause aching and burning of the
