CoolTouch Endovenous (CTEV) Laser

Endovenous Lasers

Visconti Imaging & Vein Institute utilizes the CoolTouch CTEV laser, the most comfortable technology available.  The CTEV laser uses a higher wavelength than other lasers available, requiring less heat to close the vein.  You are awake throughout the procedure and will feel very little pain, as your leg will be numbed using a local anesthetic.  During the procedure, a single incision is made in your leg and a fiber is inserted into the vein.  Once the laser is activated, the fiber is slowly retracted while it gently heats and safely closes the vein.  The light waves damage the wall of the vein, causing it to close.

After the procedure, your leg will be wrapped in a compression bandage, and you will be up and walking the same day.  You will be able to resume light routine activities the next day and athletic or strenuous activities within several days to a couple of weeks.

Benefits of the CTEV Laser:

  • Patients do not experience the incision scars or bruising that are often present with alternative methods.

  • The entire procedure takes approximately one hour.

  • The laser procedure is minimally invasive, and it is performed in the spa-like atmosphere of Visconti Imaging & Vein Institute.

  • You can go back to work the day after the procedure.

  • Your symptoms will begin to improve immediately after the procedure is completed.  However, depending on their severity, some symptoms may take 1-2 weeks to completely disappear.
