Ambulatory Phlebectomy

An ambulatory phebectomy is often done in conjunction with other forms of treatment.  During the procedure, a local anesthetic called Tumescent (also used in liposuction) is injected along the course of the vein.  A very small incision is made and portions of the vein are removed.  The quantity of incisions will vary depending on the severity of your varicose veins, but you will not require any stitches.  After the procedure, steri-strips will be applied to each incision, and we will put your compression stockings on for you.  You will need to wear your stockings for 7-10 days, unless otherwise instructed by Dr. Visconti.
