Breast MRI

A breast MRI is a non-invasive, painless medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat breast abnormalities.  It is used as a supplemental tool for detecting and staging breast cancer, and should not replace mammography or ultrasound imaging.

Indications for Breast MRI

  • Evaluate abnormalities detected by mammography

  • Identify early breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue and women who are at high risk

  • Evaluate women who have breast implants more closely

  • Distinguish between scar tissue and tumors

Benefits of Breast MRI

  • Detects lesions that cannot be seen by mammography or ultrasound

  • Helps to diagnose a broad range of conditions, including detecting and staging breast cancer

  • No radiation exposure
